50-yr-old lady harmed in Pak terminating in Poonch part

Jammu, Aug 14: A 50-year-old lady was harmed today when Pakistan Army, following a break in four months, disregarded the truce and focused on Indian posts on hold of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch segment.

“Kasim Jan (50), an inhabitant of Shahpur town, was harmed when she was hit by the chips of a mortar shell discharged from over the fringe early today,” a cop said.

She was promptly cleared and moved to District Hospital Poonch where her condition is expressed to be steady, he said.

“Early morning, the Pakistan Army depended on truce infringement along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir,” Defense representative Lt Col Manish Mehta said here.

Mehta said the Pakistan Army depended on substantial mortar, little arm and programmed weapon discharge in the part since 3 AM.

“Our troops reacted suitably and no setbacks or harm to our troops was accounted for,” he said.

Armed force sources said that first at around 3 AM, Pakistan Army’s Doda legion let go little arms and mortars from their Dhakni-Dhok, Nezapir and Mocho Mohra posts, and later at 5 AM, the Banwat regiment of the armed force additionally started terminating at Indian stations.

Today’s truce infringement comes after almost four months after the last such episode occurred on April 10 in Poonch division.

A year ago, 16 regular folks were executed and 71 harmed in 405 episodes of cross-outskirt terminating by Pakistan, the officer said.

While 253 episodes of truce infringement occurred along the International Border (IB), 152 occurrences were accounted for along the LoC, he said.

Around 8,000 individuals were incidentally influenced due to the truce infringement and must be moved to more secure areas.
