Amarnath yatra suspended because of substantial railfall
Jammu, Aug 7: Pilgrimage to the hollow sanctum of Amarnath in south Kashmir was today suspended after overwhelming precipitation and avalanche in the Jammu district.
The yatra has been suspended from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp here because of relentless precipitation and avalanches at a few spots on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, a cop said.
The interstate was quickly shut to vehicular activity in the morning so no crisp clump of explorers were permitted to continue towards the two base camps in the Kashmir Valley.
The police and powers of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) are checking the circumstance and the choice to continue the journey will be taken tomorrow if the climate conditions enhance, he said.
