A class one student went missing from a school in West Bengal’s Purulia district on January 30 and a search was launched to find the boy. Two days later, his body was found in a pond 400 metres away from the school. The police initially thought it was a case of drowning, but further probe revealed shocking details of the incident. The young boy was murdered.
On January 30, a class one student went missing during the lunch break from a private school in Ghastoria in the Purulia district of West Bengal. His body was found in a secluded pond several metres away from the school. The post-mortem revealed the child was hit on his head and was allegedly murdered. The cops began the investigation into the alleged murder and found that a student from class eight from the same school had murdered the young boy.
The police suspected an eight-graded was involved in the murder after he was absent from the school since the day of the incident. The student was questioned by the cops, who reportedly confessed to killing the boy. The reason behind killing the student was extremely shocking. The boy thought if someone died in the school, then they would get a holiday, and for that, he allegedly killed the class one student so that he could go back home after getting a day off from school, Abhijit Banerjee, Superintendent of Police of Purulia, said.
The students used to live in the school’s hostel and the student from class eight moved to the hostel a week ago and wanted to go back home. The police said the student took the boy to a secluded pond, hit him on the head and threw the boy in the pond.
The boy moved recently to the hostel and we did not see anything unusual and don’t know much about him, Yudhishthir Mahato, a head teacher in the school said.
“It is clear from the probe that this boy is responsible. We initially thought that he died by drowning. But it later emerged that this Class 8 boy was missing after the break. The probe then revealed that he was involved,” the headmaster said.
