“Chinese troops in U’khand outskirt a transgression”

New Delhi, Jul 22: The episode with respect to Chinese troops entering the outskirt region of Chamoli in Uttarakhand is that of “transgression” and not “invasion”, the legislature said today.

Reacting to questions from the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar said the fringe has not been separated and the two sides have an “alternate recognition” about it.

He said on July 22, two PLA warriors entered 200 meters in Barholi range of Uttarakhand inside the Indian region and the villagers cautioned them.

“The Line of Actual Control (LAC) has not been formally separated. So there is diverse discernment about this of both the sides,” he said, including that there are components like banner gatherings by both the sides to determine such issues.

“Amid such gatherings, we have made our dissents to the Chinese side. There was no invasion, just transgression,” Parrikar said.

The Minister said each year, there are around 400-500 occurrences of transgression, however this year it has descended.

Parrikar likewise noticed that it is the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) under the Ministry of Home Affairs that deals with the LAC and not the Defense Ministry.
