Govt. legitimizes armed force helping Sri Ravi Shankar’s occasion

New Delhi, Mar 10: Union Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday minimized the Opposition’s feedback over arrangement of armed force for Sri Ravi Shankar’s occasion and said this was not surprisingly that the Indian fighters were conveyed in a social occasion.

“Assertions have been leveled that the Home Ministry is giving unique help with sorting out Sri Ravi Shankar’s World Cultural occasion, however I might want to say this is not the first run through Army is being sent in a social occasion,”.

“We send armed force at the season of Kumbh mela, Moreover, the armed force was sent when Yanni, an acclaimed performer, held a show at the Taj Mahal when Mulayam Singh was the Chief Minister. We do it for individuals’ welfare and if the Congress is making an issue out of this it is very tragic,” he included.

The Opposition yesterday raised the issue of the Indian Army’s contribution in the development of boat scaffolds for the World Culture Festival, making turmoil in the Rajya Sabha.

CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury hit out at the Center, inquiring as to why was the armed force being reserved in for a private occasion taking after which the Opposition MPs raised mottos of ‘Armed force ka galat istemaal mat karo, raksha karo’.
